THE NATIONAL TELEVISION ACADEMY ANNOUNCES ITS 2006 CALENDAR

New York, NY – Jan. 11, 2006 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the schedule of its Emmy® Awards ceremonies in 2006.

First, the nominations for the 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be announced live on TheView on Wednesday, February 8 (11:00AM-12:00 noon, all times Eastern).  The winners will be announced in two ceremonies in April; a non-telecast ceremony in New York on  Saturday, April 22  and a live primetime telecast on the ABC Television Network, Daytime at Nightime Emmy Awards,on Friday, April 28 (8:00-11:00 PM).  The telecast will originate from the famed Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, a first since this event has been held for more than three decades in New York City.

Nominations for the 27th Annual Sports Emmy Awards will be announced during the World Congress of Sports in New York City on Wednesday, March 29.  The winners will receive their Sports Emmy Awards on Monday, May 1 in a ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The Foundation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will hold its 4th Annual National Student Television Awards for Excellence in New York City on Friday, June 9.

The 27th Annual News & Documentary Awards will be presented in New York City on Monday, September 25.

On Thursday, October 19, the National Television Academy will host the Public & Community Service Emmy Awards in a luncheon ceremony in New York.  Later the same day, Thursday, October 19, the 58th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards will be presented at an evening ceremony in New York City.  The next day,  Friday, October 20, the National Academy will
induct new members  into its Management Hall of Fame as well as present its Trustee Award in a ceremony in New York City.

Wrapping up the year, the Fourth Annual Business & Financial Reporting Emmy Awards will be held in New York City on Tuesday, December 5.
