NATIONAL ACADEMY OF MEDIA ARTS & SCIENCES TO HOLD INAUGURAL EVENT, SEPT. 18, NYC
Inaugural Breakfast for NATAS Peer Group To Be Held At The New Headquarters of The New York Times
New York, N. Y. – September, 13, 2007 – The National Academy of Media Arts & Sciences, a peer group the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, will hold an inaugural breakfast at the new state-of-the-art headquarters of The New York Times (Times Center, 242 West 41st Street)on Tuesday, September 18 (8:00-10:00AM). Welcoming NAMAS members and prospective members from the digital industry will be Martin Nisenholtz, Sr. Vice President, Digital Operations, The New York Times; Vivian Schiller, Sr. Vice President/General Manager, The New York Times, Peter Price, President/CEO of NATAS and NAMAS, and Herb Granath, NATAS Chairman, Chairman Emeritus, ESPN; Board member of Ron Lauder’s Central European Media (CME); and Co-Chairman of Crown Media Holdings.
In May of this year, the Board of Trustees of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unanimously approved the formation of NAMAS as a peer group for current and prospective members of any of the 19 chapters of the National Television Academy. Bob Wright, past Chairman of the Board of NBC Universal and Vice Chairman of the Board, Executive Officer and a member of the Corporate Executive Officer of General Electric Company, chairs NAMAS.
“NAMAS will bring together prominent executives, technologists, and creative people in advertising and production — professionals working in all forms of digital media including television, Internet, newspapers, and magazines,” said Peter Price. “It is our mission to stimulate dialogue and the exchange of ideas among the burgeoning number of professionals and students active in the new media realm.” Price noted that a NAMAS Inaugural Breakfast is also scheduled for October 30 in Los Angeles.
